I wanted to keep most of her original design since I had used it for so long. I wanted her to at least look like Peter Parker since he’s her older brother. At the same time I wanted her to be her own person. So I asked myself, what would I do if I were her?

Short hair was a must. I think she would want her hair style to be practical especially since she wears a mask when she’s Web-Strider. Second, because of said mask, her hair is probably straight and a little matted or frizzy here and there. So that’s what I kept in mind when sketching out her hair. I also thought it would be fun if the design of her mask was reflected in her make up choice. Thus, I designed the eyeliner/ lashes to be a less exaggerated version of the eye pieces of her mask. It helps her stand apart from her brother and I think helps build on her character to show that Web-Strider is more than just a part of her life. Hence the college sweatshirt haphazardly thrown over her spider-suit.
