Who am I?

DECEMBER 5, 2024 | ACRYLIC PAINT, OIL PAINT PEN

This piece is an internal self portrait. I recently have been struggling to find my identity in both my art and myself. Since college, I’ve had to face a lot of growth and internal conflict that made me need to pause and think. Whenever I do pieces like this, I tend to portray myself with few features as a white outline on a black background. That much came naturally, but I wanted to incorporate color to portray the internal chaos I had been feeling. I chose to do the bottom section the way I did to sort of feel out how I wanted this piece to go or at least feel out how I think it was supposed to go. It was messy and crazy, but I’m happy with how it came out. Every time I look at it, I see myself and the internal chaos that lives in my head.
